Benefit Programs

The Diocese of Laredo provides the following benefits for eligible employees:

Health Insurance.
Eligibility: Employees who work 30 or more hours per week. Coverage is effective the 1st of the month following the completion of two months of employment. An employee may waive this benefit if he/she has other coverage.  This plan is an employer/employee shared cost plan.

Dental Plan.
Eligibility: Employees who work 30 or more hours per week. Coverage is effective the 1st of the month following the completion of two months of employment. An eligible employee may waive this benefit if he/she has other coverage.

Lay Employee Retirement Plan.
Mandatory benefit provided to eligible employees after attaining one year of service and who regularly work a minimum of 20 hours per week (and at least 1,000 hours each year). An eligible employee may not waive this benefit.

Life Insurance/Accidental Death and Dismemberment Plan.
Employees who work 30 or more hours per week are provided $30,000.00 life insurance policy coverage to age 65. On and following the employee's 65th birthday, pro-rated deductions in coverage occur. This benefit is effective the first of the month following two full months of employment. An eligible employee may not waive this benefit.

Workers' Compensation.
A benefit provided to all employees from the first day of employment. Worker's compensation provides monetary compensation for work related injury or illness as approved through the insurance carrier.
