On Monday, May 16, 2022, Bishop Tamayo officiated a Blue Mass. This Mass honored all of the brave men and women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice and to those who protect and serve their community everyday.

A message from Bishop James A. Tamayo addressed to all law enforcement officials read, "The Diocese of Laredo is proud to honor each member of our Law Enforcement Agencies as you participate in the Annual Blue Mass. May your religious ceremony at San Agustín Cathedral draw you and your loved ones to a closer union with God. In a very special way, we pray for the officers ho are ill and have passed from this earth, particularly those officers who lost their lives in the line of duty."
