Youth in the diocese are invited to attend a brand new event hosted by the Office of Youth Ministry. This time of prayer and fun has taken place earlier this summer in Eagle Pass, the northernmost part of our diocese, and now makes its way to Laredo. Below, read a testimony of the retreat which will appear in the September/October 2019 Issue of La Fe Magazine.

The Office of Youth Ministry hosts ‘Light it Up’ retreat in Eagle Pass

You can Pre-Register, there is NO penalty for cancellation. Filling out Registration Forms and Payments are done on the first day of the course. 

Next Sunday is the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. Pope Francis has asked us to pray for our brothers and sisters who find themselves needing to leave their home country due to conditions that either endanger them or do not allow for basic human needs. As you know, many lose their lives each year in these attempts at a more dignified life. Our Bishop James Tamayo will celebrate Holy Mass on Saturday September 28 at 10AM at Tres Laredos Park, (1300 Pedregal St, Laredo, TX 78040) situated along the banks of the Rio Grande near the Laredo Outlet Mall. This year the Consulate of Mexico in Laredo has recognized Catholic Charities, a ministry of the Diocese of Laredo with the Ohtli Award.

Catholic Charities is being recognized for its work and commitment to the migrant community. Consul Juan Carlos Mendoza Sanchez will make the presentation, during the commemoration of the 209th Anniversary of the beginning of the fight for Mexico’s Independence at San Agustin Plaza on September 13, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

35 years after its original release in theaters, the classic Academy Award nominee and restored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will be screened in more than 200 cinemas to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month.  "El Norte", the epic and acclaimed masterpiece about dreams of immigrants from Central America and the promise of America, will return to theaters in certain regions this September at a special presentation just a day to celebrate its 35th anniversary, brought by Fathom Events and world leader Lionsgate content. Directed by Gregory
