Father José Guadalupe Cadena walked out of San Agustín Cathedral as a newly ordained diocesan priest on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Fr. Joe is excited to spend the summer in Laredo, before returning to Mundelein Seminary to continue his studies.

After a beautiful and emotional Ordination Mass, Fr. Joe celebrated with an intimate luncheon at the Cathedral's parish hall, where he greeted and blessed attendants.

Thank you for all your prayers and continued support for vocations in the Diocese of Laredo. Congratulations, Fr. Joe!

Celebrated on a cloudy morning at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, the Diocese of Laredo’s Memorial Day Mass commemorated the fallen heroes who lost their lives while serving their country in the armed forces. Fr. Iden Bello celebrated Mass and acknowledged the sacrifices made by all the veterans present and those that have passed away.

The ceremony included the traditional laying of the wreath, 21 gun salute, playing of taps, moment of silence, and benediction. Also, there was the unveiling of the Veterans Monument, generously donated by Dr. Joaquín and Bárbara Cigarroa.
