Celebrated on a cloudy morning at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, the Diocese of Laredo’s Memorial Day Mass commemorated the fallen heroes who lost their lives while serving their country in the armed forces. Fr. Iden Bello celebrated Mass and acknowledged the sacrifices made by all the veterans present and those that have passed away.
The ceremony included the traditional laying of the wreath, 21 gun salute, playing of taps, moment of silence, and benediction. Also, there was the unveiling of the Veterans Monument, generously donated by Dr. Joaquín and Bárbara Cigarroa.
On Monday, May 16, 2016, the Diocese of Laredo hosted the Blue Mass at San Agustín Cathedral. The Blue Mass is an annual celebration that honors the brave men and women in law enforcement for their selfless work and commitment to keeping the community safe.
