Hurricane Harvey Relief & Assistance

Thursday, August 31, 2017

Catholic Charities – Diocese of Laredo continues to strengthen and empower families through its diverse programs and social services through strong community support.  Catholic Charities – Diocese of Laredo, through its Disaster Relief component, is currently serving evacuees & refugees who find themselves in our city.

We as Catholics have a responsibility to respond and help in any way we can. They are our brothers and sisters in need and we must not turn our backs on them.  We need to remember that Mary and Joseph experienced the reality of being refugees.  They were not welcomed, had doors shut to them and Jesus was born in the lowliest of places, a stable, and all because He, his mother Mary, and Joseph were fleeing from danger.  Hundreds of evacuees & refugees were recently forced to flee from their homes due to dangerous and life-threatening weather and seek shelter, safety and security for themselves as well as their families.

Catholic Charities – Diocese of Laredo is providing a “Care Package – Backpack” that includes a personal hygiene package, water, snacks & a throw blanket. We are asking the community for donations.

To assist evacuees & refugees, Catholic Charities is asking the community for assistance, by donating:

• Non-perishable food & snacks
• Cases of Bottled water
• Personal Hygiene items (men & women)
• Baby Diapers & Pull-ups (all sizes)
• Baby Formula (all kinds)
• New and/or Gently used infant & baby clothing
• Throw Blankets
• Monetary Donations

Catholic Charities – Diocese of Laredo’s mission is committed to serving the emergency needs of the indigent and believes that all persons have the right to live in an environment that is free from violence, fear, abuse and oppression.
