SUNDAY, APRIL 29TH IS BLUE SUNDAY – A DAY OF PRAYER FOR ABUSED CHILDREN
April is child abuse prevention month, and to remember the millions of children who are victims of abuse and neglect, Blue Sunday Child Abuse Prevention Initiative is asking all of us to take a moment to pray on Sunday, April 29th.
Since Child Abuse Prevention Month began in 1983, the number of abused victims has grown from half a million children to over six million new reports of abuse alone with 1,600 child abuse related deaths annually, according to Blue Sunday Child Abuse Prevention Initiative. One is too many.
Blue Sunday Child Abuse Prevention Initiative suggests how to pray for abused children this Blue Sunday:
Pray they will be rescued
Pray they are placed with caring people
Pray their minds and bodies can heal
Pray they find hope
Pray for those who rescue them
Let’s pray, educate ourselves, and volunteer until black and blue are just colors in a child’s crayon box.

Every April, child and youth serving organizations, including jesus-with-kids-small Catholic Dioceses, participate in Child Abuse Prevention Month to highlight the importance of protecting minors. We encourage you to participate with us throughout the month. Below are some opportunities to participate in Child Abuse Prevention Month, and some resources that can be used in your own local diocese, parish, and/or school.
