The Office of Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Laredo regrettably announces that San Juan Diego Catholic School (SJDCS), meant to be a merger school for former students of St. Peter’s Memorial School (SPMS) and Our Lady of Guadalupe School (OLGS), as well as students from other schools, will not be opening. Despite our greatest efforts and diligent preparation to foster this new Catholic legacy, the proposed school will not open as a result of low enrollment. This announcement comes at the beginning of summer with the upmost regard for parents, students, and employees, in hopes to provide adequate timing for the necessary adjustments for the 2019-2020 school year.

The Office of Catholic Schools and the Diocese of Laredo is implementing several accommodations for registered students and teachers and staff of SJDCS, starting with the opportunity to enroll at the other Catholic schools of our diocese. The principals and administration invite families to explore their campuses, which value a Christ-centered education within a welcoming and loving community. Just as critically, all SJDCS teachers are being given the opportunity to apply for teaching positions at our Catholic schools. Finally, a full refund will be issued to families who have already purchased the SJDCS school uniform.
