In response to the Supreme Court of the United States overruling Roe v. Wade, Bishop James A. Tamayo issued the following statement:
“Today, the Supreme Court has overruled the constitutional right to abortion, which had been protected by Roe v. Wade. I am grateful that this decision has finally come and I call on all people who respect human life to join with us in working toward a world where each unborn child is safe from harm. We are all called to cherish and defend life as it is growing in the womb of the mother. We must protect life from the moment of conception to natural death.”
This ruling is a momentous victory to guarantee that children in the womb are granted the same basic rights as any other citizen. Bishop Tamayo joins his brother Bishops with their U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ (USCCB) statement:
“As religious leaders, we pledge ourselves to continue our service to God’s great plan of love for the human person, and to work with our fellow citizens to fulfill America’s promise to guarantee the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for all people.”

En respuesta a la anulación de Roe v. Wade por parte de la Corte Suprema de los Estados Unidos, el Obispo James A. Tamayo emitió la siguiente declaración:
“Hoy, la Corte Suprema anuló el derecho constitucional al aborto, que había sido protegido por Roe v. Wade. Estoy agradecido de que esta decisión finalmente haya llegado y hago un llamado a todas las personas que respetan la vida humana para que se unan a nosotros en el trabajo por un mundo donde cada niño por nacer esté a salvo de cualquier daño. Todos estamos llamados a cuidar y defender la vida que crece en el vientre de la madre. Debemos proteger la vida desde el momento de la concepción hasta la muerte natural.”
Este fallo es una victoria trascendental para garantizar que a los niños en el vientre materno se les otorguen los mismos derechos básicos que a cualquier otro ciudadano. El Obispo Tamayo se une a sus hermanos Obispos con la declaración de la Conferencia de Obispos Católicos de los Estados Unidos (USCCB):
“Como líderes religiosos, nos comprometemos a continuar nuestro servicio al gran plan de amor de Dios para todas personas, y a trabajar con nuestros conciudadanos para cumplir la promesa de Estados Unidos de garantizar el derecho a la vida, la libertad y la búsqueda de la felicidad para todos."
