Bishop James A. Tamayo invites the diocesan community to visit with the Blessed Sacrament at the San Agustín Cathedral on Holy Thursday. After the 7:00 p.m. Mass in the Santa Monica Parish Hall, Fr. Iden Bello, pastor of San Agustín, will open the cathedral from 8:15 p.m. until midnight, as it is tradition to visiting seven churches during Holy Thursday.

As the Diocese of Laredo undergoes the preservation and restoration of San Agustín Cathedral, we are most conscious that although our church buildings are made of mortar and stone, they symbolize the faith of a community and bring God’s blessing upon the people.

The Diocese of Laredo, along with millions around the world, lament the fire at the historic and beloved Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Paris. As we witness this tragic event from afar, we pray for the people of France and the Archbishop of Paris as they experience this devastating event.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month and throughout the year, the Diocese of Laredo encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making our community a safe place for children and families. By providing educational resources to staff, and all volunteers, the Diocese of Laredo helps ensure that adults have the knowledge and skills they need to keep children safe and identify the signs of child abuse and neglect.

On April 2, 2019, Pope Francis’ latest apostolic exhortation was published. As always, the name of the exhortation, Christus Vivit (Christ is Alive!), comes from the first several words of the document in its Latin edition. The exhortation is addressed to both young people and the entire people of God, and relies heavily on the reflections and conversations that occurred as a part of last year’s Synod on the Youth, which had considered the age group from 16 to 29.

In the Diocese of Laredo, the movie "Unplanned" is screening at the Cinemark Mall del Norte in Laredo, Texas. Bishop James A. Tamayo and the Office of Family Life highly reccomend watching this movie with a strong pro-life message. Find your tickets here!
