Statement from Bishop James A. Tamayo regarding release of Rosa Maria Hernandez

Saturday, November 4, 2017

I am sincerely pleased and grateful that Rosa Maria Hernandez has been released and united with her parents.

With deep concern for her well-being, we continue to offer prayers for the unity of her family, the full recovery of her health, and a positive outcome to this situation.

I would like to thank Catholic Charities – Diocese of Laredo, for the pastoral concern and care they provided.

It is my prayer that people who find themselves in similar situations like the Hernandez family receive the charitable support necessitated by our nation’s current immigration policies.

The Diocese of Laredo along with all the Bishops of the United States are committed to responding to the needs of our all our Brothers  & Sisters.

With this commitment, it is our firm desire and prayer that all people of goodwill advocate to Congress to pass Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

May the Good Lord who experienced the tragedies of immigration, be with our Brothers  & Sisters.  We pray Jesus accompany them in their needs.
