Thanksgiving Luncheon Hosted

Wednesday, November 25, 2020

The pandemic did not stop Knights of Columbus Council #15783, St. Joseph’s Church, Laredo, from hosting their 5th annual Thanksgiving luncheon. Rick Gonzalez, Grand Knight of the Council, shared that the event has been able to serve an increasing number of people each year, and this year was no different.

On Saturday, November 21st, 600 families were given a fully cooked Thanksgiving meal which included turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans and pie. The Catholic Daughters of Americas, St. Jude Court #2363, were happy to partner with the Knights to help make the event a success. Members of the court helped to cook the turkeys, and they donated store-bought pies.

A special thanks goes out to Judge Jesus “Chuy” Dominguez, who donated the majority of the turkeys, and who has generously offered his support each year. The Knights of Columbus Council is appreciative of all who contributed food or helped to serve at the event including Constable Villarreal who helped to direct traffic outside of St. Joseph’s Church.

“We serve God by helping our brothers and sisters in Christ,” said Grand Knight Rick Gonzalez.

Over 600 families received a fully cooked meal for Thanksgiving.
