The Most Reverend James A. Tamayo, D.D., Bishop of the Diocese of Laredo, will celebrate the Boy Scout Award Mass and recognize the achievements of 49 youth and 3 adult leaders on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in historic San Agustín Cathedral, (Santa Monica Hall, temporary location, due to renovations).
We have been notified by several parishioners and priests of an active email and text scam targeting pastors and parishioners. In the fraudulent emails and texts, the pastor, mentioned by name, asks for donations of gift cards. Please be aware that this is a scam, and do not respond. The Diocese of Laredo and our priests will not solicit donations in this way.

Bishop James A. Tamayo invites the diocesan community to visit with the Blessed Sacrament at the San Agustín Cathedral on Holy Thursday. After the 7:00 p.m. Mass in the Santa Monica Parish Hall, Fr. Iden Bello, pastor of San Agustín, will open the cathedral from 8:15 p.m. until midnight, as it is tradition to visiting seven churches during Holy Thursday.
As the Diocese of Laredo undergoes the preservation and restoration of San Agustín Cathedral, we are most conscious that although our church buildings are made of mortar and stone, they symbolize the faith of a community and bring God’s blessing upon the people.
April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. This month and throughout the year, the Diocese of Laredo encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making our community a safe place for children and families. By providing educational resources to staff, and all volunteers, the Diocese of Laredo helps ensure that adults have the knowledge and skills they need to keep children safe and identify the signs of child abuse and neglect.
